Parasternal long axis echo view
Probe position and acquisition guidance for this echocardiographic view.
Probe position
3rd-4th interspace, immediately left of the sternum
Acquire the view
Place the patient left lateral, set the probe beside the sternum, and aim through the LV long axis.
Optimize the image
Slide one interspace at a time and maximize LV length without showing papillary muscle.
Practice in EchoSuite
The interactive lab pairs the probe and mannequin with the corresponding clinical reference cine. Enter Practice to move the probe and follow the view’s acquisition coaching.
